•  Russian Teaching Materials

Over the past four decades, American Councils has emerged as the primary developer of Russian/Eurasian language learning materials in the English-speaking world.

American Councils has produced more than 30 major textbooks and teaching aids including the Face to Face and Stages series – the most widely used Russian texts in U.S. secondary and higher education.

American Councils is also the leading U.S. organization in the field of Russian language for standard setting for students and teachers and creation of examinations and assessment instruments. American Councils, in collaboration with the College Board, had developed the pilot Russian advanced placement (AP) examination for Russian language.

Here in Georgia American Councils teaching staff will have full access to our Russian language learning publications, including Russian Stage One: Live from Moscow, the most widely used textbook in U.S. higher education, and materials specifically designed for professionals, such as Political Russian by Natasha Simes and Richard Robin, Years of Change: Reading the Russian Press by Natasha Simes, Russian for Business Communication by Liubov Klobukova, et al, On the Air by Natasha Simes, Richard Robin, Ludmilla Guslistova, and Business Russian: A Cultural Approach by Nusya Milman

•  Georgian Teaching Materials

Our teaching materials for Georgian language are entirely original and were designed primarily by Ms. Bacouradze. They cover three levels: elementary, intermediate and advanced. The lessons abound with dialogues, especially in the initial stage.

The texts comprise short tales, fables and narratives about Georgian culture, history, architecture etc. Each lesson is structured as follows: the lexical-grammatical material is introduced (for the elementary level this is the alphabet, with sample words and phrases; at this level grammar is not given separately but is incorporated together with the new words and phrases) and is followed by exercises and vocabulary translated into English, with phraseology marked out separately. Each fifth lesson is a review of the previous four. Care is taken so that the grammatical features of examples and phrases do not supersede the grammar that is being explained.

Commencing from the intermediate level , and especially at the advanced level , the material varies according to different themes: political, cultural, social, military, sport, medicine (with political and cultural as the prevailing subjects). A considerable number of texts are taken from current newspapers and adapted to students' needs.
