GHSEP
In 2009, within the framework of the United States-Georgia Charter on Strategic Partnership, the Government of Georgia undertook affirmative steps in order to even more strengthen cooperation between the two nations. Because of the successful record of the FLEX program and the solid reputation of American Councils in Georgia, the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia initiated extending the opportunity of spending one academic year in the United States for free to even more Georgian students. As a result, a new exchange program – Georgia High School Exchange Program to the USA (GHSEP) was launched, modeled after FLEX. The Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia provided funding for GHSEP under the English Language Strengthening Program and American Councils administered the program using the existing methodology and mechanisms in place for FLEX.
During two academic years GHSEP offered a chance to 100 Georgian students in total to become Government of Georgia scholars in order to represent their country in the United States, gain great cross-cultural experience, and establish friendships.
